Parity commissions
It is important that an employer delegating his employees to Belgium knows the commission (commission paritaire, CP) appropriate to his business. Collective labor conventions concluded within these commissions determine the applicable working and pay conditions. As a rule, every employer can belong to only one parity committee. Belonging to a specific parity committee depends on which activity is actually carried out in Belgium. For example, companies that carry out construction works belong to the commission CP 124 and electricians to the committee CP 149.01. If the entrepreneur carries out several activities, usually the main activity is taken into account, i.e. the activity in which most of the staff are involved or for which most of the time is devoted.
Parity committees are very important when it comes to regulating working conditions and remunerating employees. One should become familiar with them, because to some extent also foreign employers are delegating employees to Belgium.
